The Daphne du Maurier Festival of Arts and Literature is a community event co-ordinated by Restormel Borough Council. 2008 is the 12th year of the festival and provides an entertaining 10 days of star names, guided walks, talks, drama, local events and free entertainment. The events are set in the picturesque harbour town of Fowey and neighbouring towns and villages.

How to get there
 
By Car
From the M5 at Exeter, there is a choice of routes, A38 or A30, of which the latter is now virtually all dual carriageway to beyond Bodmin.
From the A30, after Bodmin, take the A391 to St Austell and then the A3082 to Fowey.
From the A38, at Dobwalls, take the A390 through Lostwithiel to St Blazey and then follow the signs to Fowey.
Parking
Parking in Fowey: the Main Car Park, on Hanson Drive as you enter Fowey from St Austell or the Caffa Mill Car Park, in Station Road, if approaching from the Bodinnick Ferry.
There are 2 Car Parks at, or near to, Caffa Mill - an easy, level walk to the town events.
The Beach Car Park, close to Readymoney Cove provides an alternative for day-long parking.
Polruan has a large car park at the top of the village.
Bodinnick has very limited parking.
Weekly and Daily Car Parking tickets are available for all of Restormel Car Parks. In Fowey these are; the 'Main', 'Readymoney' and 'Caffa Mill' Car Parks, but they apply across the Borough, including Newquay on the north coast. They give unlimited time in Long Stay Car Parks and a certain time in Short Stay Car Parks.
The Daily tickets can be purchased from the ticket machine in the car park.
The Weekly tickets (35) can be purchased (Pound coins!) from the ticket machine in the car park, from Fowey TIC (in person only, in cash and with your car registration number) or from Restormel Borough Council in advance, phone (01726) 223 303.
By Rail
All rail services stop at St Austell (9 miles from Fowey) and some stop at Par (4 miles from Fowey). Enquiries: 08457 484950
By Air

By Coach
National Express coaches stop at St Austell and St Blazey.
Local Ferries
Car Ferry - between Caffa Mill, Fowey and Bodinnick every 10-15 minutes. Last ferry around 8:40 pm
Pedestrian Ferry - between Whitehouse Quay, Esplanade, Fowey and Polruan every 15 minutes until 6:15 pm. Thereafter from Town Quay, Fowey until 11:00 pm.
By Cross-Channel Ferry
Brittany Ferries arrive in Plymouth.
Further east, Portsmouth has convenient links with Caen, Le Havre and Cherbourg
Local Buses
A free mini-bus service operates between the Festival Village and the town centre calling at Caffa Mill, Fowey Docks and the Main Car Park during the Festival. It operates between 6:45 pm and 8:15 pm and again from 10:00 pm to 11:30 pm. The Free Mini-bus Service is provided by Fowey Town Council.
Other regular bus services operate between St Austell and Fowey, passing through St Blazey, Par and Tywardreath (Timetable enquiries: 0870 6082608)
By Yacht
Fowey is a very popular, well equipped and scenic mooring if you're arriving by yacht.
 
Access to the Theatre and the Marquee
Both the du Maurier Theatre and Festival Marquee are sited on the Festival Village. Please park in the Main Car Park, Hanson Drive, Fowey. Due to construction works at Fowey Hall Hotel, there will be alternative pedestrian access arrangements to the Festival Village this year. Strictly no access for vehicles. Please follow the signs.
 
Disabled Access
If assistance is required for a disabled person, leave a message for the Organisers on (01726) 223 535, giving your phone number. They will call you back about providing an escort from the Fowey Hall Hotel car park. Drivers must not park their cars in the hotel car park.
Disabled parking is now Free. There is parking for disabled people in the Main Car Park.
Disabled access to Community Events By virtue of the range of venues, the quality of access may vary. Please contact the organisers to verify the conditions applying - many events are of a temporary nature. Further information is available on the Festival Website.
