Blue Flag Awards in Cornwall

The Blue Flag Award is the international quality mark for beaches. The prestigious award scheme acts as a guarantee to everyone that a beach is among the finest not only in the country, but globally.
They are only awarded to coastal destinations that boast the highest quality of water, facilities, safety, environmental education and management.

The following Cornish beaches have been awarded Blue Flags in 2015 and again in 2016:

Carbis Bay, St Ives - Managed by Carbis Bay Hotel
Gyllyngvase, Falmouth - Managed by Cornwall Council
Porthmeor, St Ives - Managed by Cornwall Council
Porthminster, St Ives - Managed by Cornwall Council
Polzeath, near Padstow - Managed by Cornwall Council
Porthtowan - Managed by Cornwall Council
Trevone Bay, near Padstow - Managed by Cornwall Council
Widemouth Bay , near Bude - Managed by Cornwall Council


In addition, Porth near Newquay was given a Seaside Award in 2016. Crooklets and Summerleaze beaches in Bude gained Keep Britain Tidy's own award for beaches that meet their very highest standards for cleanliness and facilities in 2016.
